Jeremy would like to congratulate his team owners, Tim & Cara Bertrand and teammate (driver) Randy Cabral and the entire Bertrand Motorsports team for winning the 2009 NEMA Series Championship!!

November 22, 2008 > NEMA Awards Banquet -- Jeremy finishes 9th in the final NEMA driver points for 2008. He started the season in the #63 midget and gave that team thier first heat win and podium finish. He then parted ways with the 63 team, missed a few races, and drove the remainder of the season in the Bertrand Motorsports #47b, in which he immediately brought in top 5 finishes and second place finishes at both Monadnock and Waterford Speedways. A severe crash at Seekonk late in the season ended the NEMA year for him, with a concussion and bruised lung-- Jeremy recovered but the #47b was un-repairable. He landed a top 10 in the final point standings, and he will continue behind the wheel in 2009 in a Bertand Midget in both NEMA and USAC. Jeremy also is looking into other driving possiblilites in USAC or NASCAR Modifieds.

Bertrand Motorsports Sweeps Waterford Speedbowl

Jeremy Frankoski makes it a one-two finish for the Betrand Motorsports team at Waterford in the NEMA feature on Sunday, October 5th. Jeremy started 10th in his heat race, and finished third; and he also started 10th in the main bringing in a second place behind team-mate Randy Cabral. Jeremy also warmed up the NEMA Lites team car for Todd Bertrand, who then went on to win his feature.

"The Bertrand Motorsports team put on the show at Waterford" says Jeremy.

Jeremy Frankoski (#47b) works through traffic behind team-mate Randy Cabral (#47) as they go to the front during Northeastern Midget Association feature at Waterford Speedbowl’s Finale.

From the NEMA website: [ Taking the lead on lap 11, Randy Cabral breezed to a dominating victory in the 25-lap Northeastern Midget Association feature at Waterford Speedbowl’s Finale. It was the sixth win of the season for Cabral, four of them at the Speedbowl.

It capped a complete sweep for owner Tim Bertrand who moved back into the owners point lead. Jeremy Frankoski (Bertrand 47b) was second on Sunday while Todd Bertrand (Bertrand 48) captured Saturday night’s 25-lap NEMA Lites feature.

Starting fifth, Cabral moved past Erica Santos, the only other leader, in traffic through turns one and two. Only a caution with nine remaining slowed Cabral who posted a fast lap of 12.600 seconds.

Frankoski took full advantage of the yellow. Following the restart, he battled Santos for six laps before passing her out of four with three left. Adam Cantor was fourth with Jeff Abold fifth. Cabral’s winning margin was a “comfortable” 1.547seconds.

“We set up for the bottom,” said Cabral. “I got into lapped traffic, went to the outside and it stuck like glue.” Starting fifth, he was third by lap three and passed Jeff Horn for second with 17 remaining.

Frankoski, who started 10th, just missed being involved in the only caution that involved Nokie Fornoro and Horn (they wound up against the third-turn ARMCO). “I just missed Nokie by inches,” he said. “I went by him and when I didn’t hear anything I knew I was OK. I was really lucky.”

“The Bertrand cars have been great all season so this is like a win for me,” says Erica Santos. The top three cars ran sub-13 seconds laps – Frankoski at 12.855 and Erica at 12.938. ]

Jeremy Frankoski Practices Supermodified For Bobby Santos at Star Classic

Sometimes it's really fun to help out a friend, especially when that friend asks you to practice a supermodified race car for you.  The opportunity came when Bobby Santos III had a conflicting modified race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on the same day he was slotted to drive the number 32 Soule Racing Supermodified at Star Speedway in New Hampshire on Saturday.   Dan Soule and the team needed someone to practice the car before qualifying.  Santos is the team's regular driver, and he and Jeremy are close friends.  Santos called Jeremy and asked him to help him out.

Jeremy Frankoski practices the #32 Supermodified at Star Speedway

“It was a privilege to practice the car for Dan Soule and Bobby Santos III. Soule Racing has a lot of history in Supermodifieds and their equipment is always top notch! They are also a hard working and fun team to be around. I can’t thank Danny and Bobby enough for giving me the opportunity.” Stated Jeremy.

The second session in the car Jeremy was right on pace and the car handled great. Jeremy was one of the fastest cars in practice. This was Jeremy’s first time ever in a supermodified race car.

When Bobby arrived at Star Speedway the car was set for him to qualify. Bobby and the team qualified 5th fastest out of 35 cars. They started in the 12th position and finished 8th after having to pit and make his way back through the highly competitive field.

“I was glad to help out a friend, but really it was a blast to get into a supermodified!" Says Jeremy. " I’d love to get an opportunity to drive one again for an entire race.  I am definitely going to check out some possibilities to drive a super again, and I want to let the supermodified teams out there know that I am looking if they ever need a driver.”

Jeremy is currently racing in the NEMA Midget Series, and many of the NEMA and ISMA Supermodifed events run combined shows.

Frankoski Claims 2nd with Outside Pass at Monadnock

Winchester, NH (August 30, 2008) – NEMA Midget racer and 2007 Rookie of the Year, Jeremy Frankoski thrilled New Hampshire race fans when he took over second place with a daring outside pass on NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour ‘young gun’ Ryan Preece in the final turn of the final lap at Monadnock Speedway.  The turn 4 move left him only two car lengths behind race winner Greg Stoehr as the checkered flag was unfurled by NEMA flagman Steve Grant.  Frankoski’s 25 lap march to the front started from 9th.

After taking the white flag on his final lap in third place, Frankoski drove hard into turn 1 on the outside and pulled alongside Preece on the back stretch.  Going hard again into 3 and having a good run on Preece as the two came out of turn 4; Frankoski commanded a full car length lead.  With the momentum building in the Bertrand Motorsports 47B midget, Frankoski launched ahead, continuing to gain on Stoehr at the finish line.

“The car was fast all day and I could drive it just about anywhere I wanted to,” understated Frankoski.  In only the second race for the newly formed Bertrand Motorsports / Jeremy Frankoski / MJ Motorsports venture, the team established top speed honors in hot laps when Jeremy consistently posted times between 11.9 and 12.0 seconds.  “Although we were fast, I was still worried there were so many great drivers hanging around 12 seconds,” said Frankoski.  Greg Stoehr went on to turn an 11.77 second fastest lap of the day, later in the qualifying heats.

Known by racers as a driver’s track and a tough place to pass, Monadnock Speedway in Winchester, New Hampshire is a tricky high banked quarter mile oval.  “I am very proud of Jeremy in only his second start (with us) at such a tough racetrack,” praised Tim Bertrand.  “We have found the ‘real deal’ in this kid and look forward to our next race at Lee.”

NEMA continues the New Hampshire segment of their tour, with a visit to LEE USA Speedway (Lee, NH) on Friday September 12.   The tour then moves to All-Star Speedway (Epping, NH) on September 20 and Twin State Speedway (Claremont, NH) on September 28.

Despite the impressive second place showing, Jeremy Frankoski remains 7th in NEMA points.  However, with only 75 points separating 3rd through 7th in the driver standings and more than 1000 points up for grabs in the remaining 6 NEMA races, the season continues to be very tightly contested.

So far, Jeremy Frankoski has 8 top ten finishes, 4 top five finishes and 2 heat wins in the 2008 NEMA season.

NEMA Second Half Looking Brighter for Frankoski

Huntington, NY / Suffield, CT (08/20/08) – After maintaining a “top ten” standing while racing week to week for four different car owners this season, Jeremy Frankoski can finally “get back in the groove” knowing he has a solid opportunity in NEMA midgets.  The 22 year old young gun will be competing as the newest member of the top ranked Bertrand Motorsports team and will pilot Tim Bertrand’s 47B midget at all seven remaining NEMA races in 2008.
“Everything has come together for us during the past two weeks,” stated Tim Bertrand.  “With the help of some exceptional people in and around NEMA, we have been able to put together enough support to run the remainder of the 2008 season and hopefully give Jeremy a shot at some top finishes.”

Coming off a solid 9th place finish last Saturday driving the 77M Beast chassis for Luggelle Racing at Waterford Speedbowl’s highly successful “Wings & Wheels” event, Jeremy Frankoski holds onto 7th in the NEMA driver standings. Jeremy would also like to thank Adam Cantor Racing, who has offered some support and supplied used tires when he raced the 77m, among other things.

“Although the 47B will continue to be Randy (Cabral)’s back up car for the remainder of the season, and with a spare engine in the trailer, we hope we won’t have to play that plan out,” Bertrand strategized.  Randy Cabral remains on top of the NEMA driver standings ahead of Joey Payne in 2nd and Bobby Santos III in 3rd.  Tim Bertrand leads the owner standings ahead of Bob Santos in 2nd and Gene Angelillo in 3rd.

L to R – Jeremy Frankoski, Randy Cabral & Tim Bertrand

The opportunity comes on the heals of a successful Bertrand/Frankoski venture in the Boston Louie Memorial Race held August 9 at Seekonk Speedway in which Frankoski posted a strong 2nd in time trials among more than 30 cars.  Frankoski went on to finish fourth after an inverted start from 13th in his first race in the Bertrand machine.
“After driving (the 47B) in the Boston Louie and getting a feel for this race car, I’m more than excited about our prospects for the rest of the year,” said Frankoski. “The chemistry with Tim and Randy is really good too, and that’s a big factor."

“I’m also thankful for all the great support I have received from so many people over the past month,” Frankoski continued.  Mike Jarret at MJ Motorsports, the Bertrands and Cabrals along with Mike Luggelle, Bob Santos, Bobby Seymour, Mike Horn and John Greenhalgh all pledged their support and continue to be extremely helpful.”
The newly expanded Bertand team has plenty of hard work ahead of them in the next two weeks as they prepare for Monadnock Speedway on August 30th.  The extensive work includes a rebuild of the engine that failed for Cabral in the 47 midget during practice at the Boston Louie two weeks ago and installation of a recently acquired engine from Esslinger Racing in the 47B.

The next stop on the NEMA tour, Monadnock Speedway, is a tricky ¼ mile track in Winchester, New Hampshire.  Frankoski had a good run there earlier this year and was solidly in 3rd before fuel issues in the final laps dropped him back to a 7th place finish.  Cabral claimed runner-up honors to Joey Payne the same night.
Jeremy Frankoski won his first NEMA race last year as a rookie at Beech Ridge.  He also finished 3rd at Stafford, 2nd at Seekonk and went on to be honored by NEMA as the 2007 Rookie of the Year.  So far this year in NEMA, Jeremy has 7 top ten finishes, 3 top five finishes and 2 heat wins.

The “Boston” Louie Seymour Memorial Race is one of NEMA’s most prestigious races of the season.  The race, in its 12th year, honors legendary car owner Louie Seymour who raced midgets across the US and brought notoriety, not only to his team for their accomplishments, but to open wheel racing in the Northeast.

Frankoski Rides Emotional Roller Coaster to 4th in the Boston Louie

Huntington, NY..........Jeremy Frankoski started 13th and drove to a 4th place finish in the 2008 Boston Louie.  “The car was fast all day and I thought we had a good shot at winning,” claimed Frankoski, “we just ran out of laps before I could get it done.”

Frankoski put the Bertrand Motorsports 47B midget in position to win when he emerged from time trials with the second fastest lap time of 11.126 seconds with more than 30 cars on hand.  The inside row 7 starting position came about when NEMA officials randomly drew to invert the line up back to 14th.

However, Jeremy’s ultimate success in the Bertrand back up car did not come until after much disappointment and uncertainty as teammate and points leader Randy Cabral suffered motor failure during the final practice session of the day.

“I thought I was done so I changed my clothes and put my driving gear away,” said Frankoski, “then Bob Santos came over to our pit and said he would let Randy use his back up motor.”  The next two hours found the competing Bertrand and Santos teams along with driver BJ MacDonald working side by side to get the motors swapped.

The work on the Cabral ride was completed just in time to test the motor before time trials.  Both Bertrand midgets were able to compete and finish the evening without further incident.  Randy Cabral started 8th and went on to win!

“It was a great night for our team,” said Frankoski, “I think we can also win a few races with that 47B car, but we will have to see what Randy’s motor needs this week and see what our options are for Waterford on Saturday.”

“I really appreciate all the great support I have received from so many people,” Jeremy continued, “Mike Jarret at MJ Motorsports, the Bertrands and Cabrals along with Mike Luggelle, Bobby Seymour, Mike Horn and John Greenhalgh have all been really helpful.  And I wouldn’t have been able to race at all tonight if it weren’t for Bob Santos and his backup motor!”

NEMA moves on to the Warterford Speedbowl for Racing Against Cancer Wings and Wheels this Saturday August 16th.

Jeremy Frankoski & Bertrand Motorsports Headed to the Boston Louie Memorial

Suffield, CT........The call that Jeremy Frankoski was looking for came only two weeks after his recent departure from TSR Motorsports.  Frankoski will be headed to the year’s biggest NEMA race, the Boston Louie Seymour Memorial, as a teammate alongside current point’s leader Randy Cabral in a Bertrand Motorsports entry.

“Things worked out well, and just at the right time.  I really appreciate the opportunity to be in a top ride, with a great team for such a special race,” stated Frankoski.

Frankoski will pilot the same car that “Liquid” Lou Cicconi drove to three victories for the Bertrand team last season, two of those coming at Seekonk Speedway – the site of this year’s Boston Louie.  By Seekonk Speedway calculations, Cicconi recorded some of the fastest laps at the track last season in this same mount, running in the 11.0/11.1 range in his September 15th win.

No stranger to the fast way around Seekonk, Frankoski turned an 11.06 en route to a second place finish on October 7th with last year’s Power Point team.  For the Boston Louie, the Bertrand midget will sport a new Esslinger power plant.

“Randy, myself and the team talked it over.  We really wanted to get our spare car and engine together, tested and on the track.  To be able to give Jeremy a shot to race and also be able to help our team out seems like a win/win for everyone,” stated team owner Tim Bertrand.  “We’ll go out, have some fun and hopefully be able to give Jeremy a shot at a couple of good runs,” continued Bertrand.

The Bertrand #47B will also proudly display sponsorship from MJ Motorsports as well as Atlantic Coast Trailer Sales.

“Without the help of our sponsors, we would not be able to field a second car.  Their help is incredibly appreciated,” stated Bertrand.  Frankoski also commented, “The people within NEMA, the same people I compete against, have been really supportive over the last two weeks.  It’s a great bunch of people to be racing with!”

Before last Saturday night’s race at Waterford Speedbowl, Frankoski still sat solidly inside the top ten in driver’s points.  He hopes to secure enough driving time for the remainder of the season to continue his quest for a top ten finish in the year-end championship standings.

Jeremy Frankoski exploded onto the NEMA scene last year when he won his first race as a rookie at Beech Ridge in the Marine Engines sponsored #99.  He also finished 3rd at Stafford and 2nd at Seekonk.  Jeremy was ultimately honored as the 2007 Ed Clothier Rookie of the Year during the NEMA Awards Banquet.

Jeremy Frankoski Officially Announces Parting with TSR Motorsports

Huntington, NY………2007 NEMA Rookie Of The Year Jeremy Frankoski has parted ways with team TSR Motorsports in the #63 Midget that he was driving on the NEMA (North East Midget Association) circuit.

The announcement leaves Jeremy stranded in 5th place in driver points with very little time to recover a back up ride for this weekend’s race at Monadnock and the rest of the season.

The Arbitell Convenience Stores – K&N Filters sponsored entry that Jeremy had been driving was a Gaerte powered 2000 Stealth combo chassis (dirt & asphalt) with recent modifications made to convert it from torsion bar to coil over springs.  Jeremy’s solid driving ability was confirmed when he finished first in qualifying heats at Lee and Thompson along with a second place heat at Stafford.

“I think we did an outstanding job so far this year and I am happy to have helped the team accomplish such a great start in NEMA,” stated Jeremy.  “We pulled off TSR’s first NEMA podium finish by capturing 3rd at Stafford and brought the team to 5th place in the points chase.”  The venture also produced 5 top tens and 2 top five finishes in the first 7 races held by NEMA.

Jeremy went on to say, “these excellent results…driving the #63 Gaerte/Stealth midget are even more remarkable when you consider the consistent top performance of the more established veteran teams who are running Esslinger powered Beast chassis’ and the amazing talent of the top NEMA drivers on the tour.”

“I appreciate all the good things that we were able to accomplish with TSR, and I am certainly disappointed that our relationship has ended in the middle of the season like this,” lamented Jeremy.  “I want to thank Rocky at Arbitell Convenience Stores for his support along with Joe, Steve, Matt and Dave on the crew for their excellent work on the car.”

Jeremy is currently working with the highly supportive NEMA community to secure a ride for the remainder of the 2008 season and said, “We will have to wait and see what happens in the next few days to try and save the rest of the season, but I am hopeful that we will be able to continue to race in NEMA this year.”

Jeremy Frankoski exploded onto the NEMA scene last year when he won his first race as a rookie at Beech Ridge in the Marine Engines sponsored #99.  He also finished 3rd at Stafford and 2nd at Seekonk.  At Seekonk, he turned the fastest lap of any midget during the four races held there.  Jeremy was ultimately honored as the 2007 Ed Clothier Rookie of the Year during the NEMA Awards Banquet.
